Bluffton United Methodist Church will host the Lowcountry Jazz Band concert Sunday, May 6, 3PM. The concert is free and all are cordially invited to attend.

The concert “Cross Currents” pays tribute to the wide versatility of the Great American Songbook; as many “pop” tunes have crossed over into the big band setting. We will be performing music of Count Basie, Benny Carter, Bud Powell, Stevie Wonder, Gordon Goodwin, and Cyndi Lauper and more.

Our lineup features the vocal stylings of Robin Lind and also provides a platform for some beautiful and burning instrumental solos. There will be something for everyone so please come and have some “swingin’ fun”! A freewill offering will be gratefully appreciated.

The Lowcountry Jazz Band, directed by David Hershey, is the portion of the Lowcountry Community Band that brings pop music to the community at large, sponsored by OLLI. Our mission is to bring jazz, blues, R & B, and rock and roll to our audience as we rekindle our musical aspirations from earlier on in life. The Band recently performed with Marlena Smalls, Velma Polk, and Elaine Lake for t he Motown and More Concert at the USCB Center for the Arts in Beaufort.
