Pastor Joey

JoeyandMickayllaJoseph Aubrey (Joey) McDonald was born and raised in Dillon County, SC.  He received his Bachelor of Science at the University of South Carolina.  and his Masters of Divinity at Erskine Theological Seminary.

Pastor Joey began his 17th year of ministry at Bluffton UMC on July 4, 2010.  Prior to coming to Bluffton, Joey served three charges: St. Matthew Circuit, Cambridge and the Barnwell/Siloam Charge.  All of these charges are members of the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Method Church.

Pastor Joey and his bride Mickaylla were married on July 13th, 2010.  Mickaylla, a former speech language pathologist is presently a stay at home mom to their five boys: Mark – 17; James – 13; Josh and Zac – 15; and Mathew – 11.

The first two years here in Bluffton have been a time of transition.  They started out by blending their two families into one and relocating their new family to a new location here in Bluffton.  In addition, this has been a new pastoral experience by moving from a shrinking population to the fastest growing county in South Carolina.  Joey reflects, “This church body is good to us.  We are truly blessed.  The people here are bright, energetic and eager to serve.  From the pastoral perspective, this is exciting and much appreciated.”

Pastor Joey’s hobbies include hiking, biking,  and traveling.  We at the BUMC are delighted to have Pastor Joey and his family serve our church.
