News and Events
On Sunday, May 6, 2018, we celebrated Meredith Inglis as we presented her with a $2,000 scholarship from our Bluffton United Methodist Women and Bluffton United Methodist Men. Meredith will be attending Emory this fall with a double major in nuclear engineering and international business. In addition to her educational efforts, Meredith has a passion for serving others. In addition to the plethora of activities and volunteer service Meredith has participated in, she created a ministry called Helen’s Hope. Funded by BUMC’s Mission Team, supported by our church and led by Meredith. Helen’s Hope provides encouragement and hope for pediatric patients in our area. We look forward to more great achievements and we are happy that we could help in this manner.
This week Andy De Paolis and Al Litster, representing the Bluffton United Methodist Men (BUMMs) delivered checks to local charities:
- Hospice of The Low Country
- Bluffton Self Help
- Bluffton Boys & Girls Club
- Beaufort County Council on Ageing – Senior Services
Our United Methodist Women (UMW) and the Bluffton United Methodist Men (BUMMs) were out in force for the Bluffton 2017 Christmas Parade. The ladies were taking donations for home made baked goods, and the men had hot and cold drinks and doughnuts.
All of the donations go to support our missions.
The BUMM’s are once again selling Golden Kernel Pecans from this year’s crop. Your orders will be available for holiday baking and gifts in mid-November. Pecans can be frozen and they will keep for about a year. The final date to order is Sunday, Nov. 5, 2016.
Pecan sales support our charities: Bluffton Self Help, Bluffton Meals-on-Wheels, Bluffton Boys & Girls Club, Council on Aging, Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, Back Pack Buddies, Family Promise, BUMC Youth
and BUMM’s Scholarship. We are proud to serve and thank you for your help.

Just like the other barricades in this life, we were not about to let a little rain stop us from doing our part for our Missions at the Rainy Bluffton Mayfest in 2017,
The UMW moved their Yard Sale inside along with the Crafty Ladies. The BUMMs added some more tents for food preparation and moved the counter tables back under the tent so the patrons could get out of the rain.
Thanks to all those who helped, and we hope you dried out quickly.
Here are a few photos showing how we coped with the rain.
Help us celebrate the coming of the summer season and support local missions as we join with Bluffton for Mayfest 2017. Right in front of the church on Calhoun Street. May 13, 2017 from 8 AM to 3 PM.
The United Methodist Women (UMW) will have a White Elephant Sale where you can pick up some books, jewelry, fashion accessories, clothing, household items or other “stuff” at the White Elephant sale. Handmade crafts will be available from the Crafty Ladies. All proceeds will go to local missions.
The Bluffton United Methodist Men – or BUMMs as they are known in the pews – will be there to feed your appetite. Hot dogs with all the trimmings, french-fries, pickles, and soft drinks are available, and you pick the price. The amount of your donation will go to the BUMM’s local missions.
We also have some slightly used, cleaned up golf balls for your next round.
See a few pictures from previous Mayfest celebrations below.
We had tremendous support for our participation in the 2016 Bluffton Mayfest.
- The UMW was selling all sorts of donated treasures along with baked goods and their hand-crafted items
- The BUMMs were grilling and selling hot dogs, fries and other assorted food items
- Rev. Joey had a team parking cars on our grounds
Bluffton’s Mayfest was a great opportunity for us to be in the community on a fabulous weather day.
